Chapter books

A chapter book generator for kids, one chapter at a time

InkStak writes illustrated chapter books for ages 5 to 12. It writes the first chapter, then continues one chapter at a time whenever you are ready, pacing the story to the number of chapters you chose and keeping track of what has happened, so characters and places stay consistent. When the book ends, start the next one in the series.

How does a chapter book work in InkStak?

  1. Set it up. Choose an age from 8 to 12, or a read-aloud age of 5 to 7 and Chapter book, then your characters, genre, style and idea. Set the number of chapters you want.
  2. Read chapter one. InkStak writes and illustrates the first chapter, pacing the story to the length you chose.
  3. Continue when you’re ready. Tap Continue for the next chapter, tonight or next week. The book ends when the story does, and you can start the next book in the series with the same characters.

What keeps a long story on track?

  • A story that remembers. Each chapter keeps track of what earlier ones established: the characters, the places, and the questions still open.
  • Characters who grow. A character’s personality, quirks and backstory shape them across the whole book, not just the first page.
  • Language for older readers. Vocabulary, sentence length and how much happens in a chapter follow the age you set.
  • Continuity Check (Publisher). Reads the book against what earlier chapters established and flags anything that contradicts it, such as a changed eye color or a renamed place, with a suggested fix for just that scene.
  • Deep Traits (Publisher). Give a character strengths, weaknesses, goals, fears and a hidden secret, and the chapters build their arc from them.

A character the story invents, like a new friend in chapter one, can be saved to your characters and brought back in the next book.

Can it be read aloud or published?

Yes. On Creator and Publisher, InkStak narrates the book chapter by chapter, hands-free, and can save the narration for offline listening. Publisher adds unlimited chapter-book exports for Amazon KDP in trade sizes like 6″ × 9″, paperback or hardcover, and Audiobook export with one MP3 per chapter.

Which plans include chapter books?

Free —Tokens —CreatorPublisher

Chapter books are on Creator ($9.99 CAD a month) and Publisher ($29.99 CAD a month). Because every story for ages 8 and up is a chapter book, those ages need one of these plans. See all plans.
