Personalized books

Make a personalized children’s book that stars your own characters

With InkStak you create the characters once (a child, a pet, a favorite toy or someone invented) and every story you make stars them, drawn the same way on every page. Pick a style and a plot, and InkStak writes and illustrates the book. Save it as a PDF, print it, or publish it on Amazon KDP.

How do I make a personalized book?

  1. Create the characters. Three things are required: a name, what they are, and a line about how they look. Add personality, quirks, favorite things and a backstory if you like, or build the character from a photo.
  2. Write the story. Pick an age or a reading level, a genre, an illustration style and a length, and give InkStak an idea in a sentence. Name a saved character in the idea and InkStak can add them to the cast for you.
  3. Keep it. Read it in the app, save a PDF or a Word document to print at home, or, on Creator and Publisher, export a print-ready book for Amazon KDP.

What makes the book feel like yours?

  • Your characters, every time. Each character keeps the same face, colors and outfit in every picture and every story, so a series can grow around them.
  • Their personality in the story. Personality, quirks and favorite things shape what characters say and do. A backstory gives them depth, and chapter books use all of it to help them grow.
  • A look you choose. 7 illustration styles (Watercolour, Storybook, Pencil Sketch, Retro Cartoon, Ben-Day Dot, Dreamy Pastel, Ghibli-Inspired), a Colouring Book line-art style, and My Style, your own mix of medium, palette, light and mood.
  • A story at the right level. An age from 2 to 12 for a story read aloud, or a Kid Reads reading level for a child reading it themselves.
  • Edits that carry through. Change a detail in one scene and InkStak updates the rest of the story to match. Redraw any picture with a note about what to change.

A photo is used once, to fill in the character’s description and draw a stylized portrait. Only the portrait is saved, never the photo.

Can I print it as a real book?

Yes, two ways. Save the story as a PDF or Word document on any plan and print it at home. Or, on Creator (1 export a month) and Publisher (3 picture books a month, plus unlimited chapter books), export it for Amazon KDP: a print-ready interior and a wrap-around cover in KDP’s trim sizes, paperback or hardcover. The guide How to publish a children’s book on Amazon KDP walks through the steps.

Which plans include it?
