Choose-your-own-adventure stories where your child decides what happens

Turn on Adventure mode and InkStak writes an illustrated story that stops at key moments to offer two or three choices. Your child picks one, and the story continues from that choice. Older children get more decisions, and you can keep each path the same on a re-read or make it new every time.

How does Adventure mode work?

  1. Turn on Adventure mode on the Create screen, then pick the characters, age, genre and style as usual.
  2. Read until the first choice. At a key moment the story pauses and offers two or three things the hero could do.
  3. Your child picks. The story continues from that choice, with new pictures, until the next decision or the ending.

How many choices will my child get?

AgeDecisionsChoices at each
4 and under12
5 to 71 to 22
8 to 922
10 and up33

Choose Same story each time and InkStak saves each path the first time it is read, so a favorite choice plays out the same way again: younger children love that. Choose New story each time and every read is a different adventure, even with the same choices.

Shared adventures in the Community can be played by other families on Creator and Publisher, each choosing their own way through.

Why do kids like it?

  • They are in charge. Picking what the hero does makes a child part of the story, not just its audience.
  • Their own hero. The adventure stars the characters your child already knows, drawn the same way in every picture.
  • A reason to read again. A different choice is a different story, so the same adventure stays fresh.
  • Choices that test a character. On Publisher, a character’s Deep Traits can shape the choices: one may test a strength or a weakness.

No. It is on Token packs, Creator and Publisher.

Narration is for picture books and chapter books in the page reader. Adventure stories use a scrolling view so the path stays visible, and don’t have the Listen control.
